At some point, Latasha James noticed something in YouTube search: when she typed her own name, the autocomplete filled in “social media manager” and “social media marketing.” Strangers were searching for her name alongside her niche. She hadn’t announced anything. It just happened – after years of showing up every single Friday.
Latasha started her Freelance Friday Podcast in 2018 while still working full time. She felt imposter syndrome about it. She has a video approaching a million views that she cringes at every time because of how she looks. She knows exactly which type of content would get her more views – and she chooses not to make it, because it doesn’t feel like her.
In this episode, we revisit one of her earliest videos, talk about the era of content she now feels slightly out of alignment with, and get into what seven years of consistent, values-driven work actually builds.
